The life story of Herman ten Kate, a Dutch traveller, physician, and ethnologist of the turn of the 19th and 20th century. In his writings he gives a vivid account of the large-scale destruction of the indigineous cultures in his time. Excerpts of his writings varying from his description of the Indian slaves of an Argentinean museum till his lonely discovery of the remote regions of the Indonesian island Sumba are illustrated with music recordings of the period.
