The life story of Herman ten Kate, a Dutch traveller, physician, and ethnologist of the turn of the 19th and 20th century. In his writings he gives a vivid account of the large-scale destruction of the indigineous cultures in his time. Excerpts of his writings varying from his description of the Indian slaves of an Argentinean museum till his lonely discovery of the remote regions of the Indonesian island Sumba are illustrated with music recordings of the period.

Sound Reporters has been broadcasting radioprogrammes since 1979. One can navigate between the various progammes and broadcasting organisations SR was involved with by clicking the icons in the left column below. Unfortunately the VPRO and the Dutch Public broadcasting stations in general have without any notice deleted the major part of their digital archives which means that the radio tower links on the left are not working anymore.
